Tax Enquiry Insurance: accountants and bookkeepers

Our Tax Enquiry Insurance provides protection in the event of an investigation by the Revenue Commissioners into a business' or private individuals' tax return or a dispute with the Commissioners following a routine PAYE or VAT inspection.
The policy provides cover for the fees incurred in representing the policyholder throughout an investigation or dispute and protects the policyholder from the expensive bills with which they can be faced following such investigations.

Benefits to the accountant

This policy will cover up to €10,000 of fees, expenses and other disbursements incurred by the appointed representative (the accountant) in representing an insured client who is subject to an investigation by the Revenue Commissioners, including:

  • Commissioners enquiries and investigations
  • Employer compliance disputes
  • PAYE, PRSI and USC disputes
  • VAT disputes
  • Pre-emptive work

In addition to the insurance cover we are able to offer:

  • A complimentary advice line service for matters relating to an investigation into an insured client.
  • Support through an investigation - our experienced and qualified consultants are available to help you with the investigation process.  If you do not wish to handle the investigation work yourself we can provide an experienced and qualified consultant to represent the client on your behalf.

Trading options:

We can provide our Tax Enquiry Insurance product in two different ways:

1.  Direct:
Under this method our Tax Enquiry Insurance product would be marketed to your clients with an instruction to visit our website in order that they may apply for and purchase cover online from us directly.  We will provide a regular report that shows which of your clients have taken out the insurance policy.

2.  All client practice-insured scheme:
Under this method your practice would take an insurance policy, in your own name, to cover all of your clients.  You would be required to complete a scheme proposal form (please see below) and our underwriters would provide a quotation based on your practice profile and the investigation and dispute history of your client base.  The premium would be payable by your practice as an annual or monthly fee, however, you could choose to pass on the cost of the insurance by charging a service fee to your clients.
