Enhanced Chamber Legal Expenses Insurance

This page provides an overview of the optional upgrade available to members who have cover under the Chamber Legal Expenses scheme.  The upgrade enables members to extend their legal expenses insurance to include valuable cover for Debt Recovery, Contract Disputes, Restrictive Covenants and Insolvency Fees.

What is covered

The Enhanced Chamber Legal Expenses upgrades provides cover for legal expenses incurred in the following matters:

Debt Recovery: 
The pursuit of legal proceedings arising from a dispute with a customer in respect of an uncontested debt, valued at £500 or more, that arises from the sale or provision of goods or services.

Contract Disputes:  
The pursuit or defence of legal proceedings in a dispute relating to a contract, valued at £1,000 or more, for the sale or hire of goods or a contract for the supply of a service.

Restrictive Covenants:  
The pursuit of legal proceedings against an employee or former employee who has breached restrictions contained within their written contract of employment.

Insolvency Fees:
The appointment of an insolvency practitioner where the insured has insufficient assets to cover such fees.

Limit of indemnity:

Cover under the Enhanced Chamber Legal Expenses policy is subject to a limit of indemnity of £100,000 any one claim and in the annual aggregate per section of cover.  Claims under Section 4. Insolvency Fees are subject to a limit of £10,000 any one claim and in the annual aggregate.

Excess:

There is no excess to pay in the event of a claim against this policy, except for claims against Section 4. Insolvency Fees, where a £1,500 excess applies.
