Household & Contents Excess Protection Insurance

Household & Contents Excess Protection insurance provides cover for the excess paid by you to your buildings and contents insurers in the event of a claim against your insurance policy following loss or damage caused to your home or contents.  Cover is available with a range of limits from £100 to £1,000.  Following a valid claim the insurer will reimburse you the sum you paid to your insurers as the excess on your household and contents insurance policy.

Benefits of cover

If you make a claim under your home insurance policy this policy will reimburse you the amount of any excess that you had to pay.

Your Home Excess Protection Insurance applies only if:

(a) the incident that gave rise to the claim under your home insurance policy happened during the period of insurance of your Home Excess Reimbursement Insurance.

(b) the claim under your home insurance policy was successful and was for more than the amount of the excess.

You can claim under Home Excess Protection insurance more than once during the period of insurance but in total the insurer will only reimburse you up to the maximum cover limit shown in the insurance schedule.

IMPORTANT LIMITATION – the insurer will not reimburse you for any claim under this insurance you make within the first 30 days immediately following the start date of cover unless this insurance started on the same date as your home insurance policy.
